Archbishop of Canterbury backs military in fight against Daesh

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has backed the use of military intervention in the fight against Daesh (also known as ISIS, ISIL, or IS). His backing came during a debate at the Church of England’s General Synod this week on a motion about the refugee crisis.

Australian Bishop calls for gun amnesty

The Bishop of the North West Region in the Diocese of Melbourne has called on the Australian government to introduce a gun amnesty amid “heightened fears of terrorist attacks and vastly increased gun crime in Australia.” He made his call as the Metropolitan Police in London announced a two-week gun amnesty in Britain’s capital would begin on Monday.
