The Archbishop of Dublin has appointed the Revd Canon David Pierpoint to be the next Archdeacon of Dublin following on the retirement of the Venerable Gordon Linney in the autumn. The exact date for the appointment to take effect has not been fixed.

Canon David Pierpoint is 48 years of age and was ordained in 1986. The first few years of his ministry were served in the auxiliary ministry in Ballybrack, and then in Narraghmore in Glendalough diocese, whilst continuing to work in the bank as he had done prior to ordination. In 1992, he became stipendiary curate in the St.Patrick's Cathedral Group of Parishes after a period of study at Westcott House, Cambridge. For the past nine years, Canon Pierpoint has been Vicar of the Christ Church Cathedral Group of Parishes, which includes All Saints' Grangegorman, St.Werburgh's and St.Michan's. He will continue as Archdeacon to serve as Vicar in this parish.
