C of E wins first battle against ExxonMobil on climate change

Shareholders in ExxonMobil will be allowed to vote on a climate change resolution brought by the Church of England and other significant institutional investors, after the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) blocked an attempt by the oil giant to leave the motion off the agenda of May’s annual meeting of shareholders.

C of E launches primary school savings club

The Church of England has launched a savings scheme aimed at helping primary school children to learn about saving while building up a small nest-egg. The LifeSavers programme has been piloted in schools across south-east London, Nottinghamshire and Bradford and is now being rolled out across the country.

C of E takes climate change fight to ExxonMobil

The Church Commissioners for England have tabled a shareholders’ motion calling on the US oil giant ExxonMobil to “disclose the resilience of its business model in the wake of the Paris Agreement on climate change.” If passed, the motion will force the oil company to be more transparent on its efforts to shift to a low-carbon economy.
