Anglicans in France encouraged to join the public debate over the place of religion in society

The Church of England’s Diocese in Europe has opened a new parish in central France. The new church of St Alcuin of York will serve an English-speaking congregation in the Touraine. It will meet in two separate buildings: l’Eglise Protestante in Tours and the Roman Catholic l’Eglise St Michel in Savigny-en-Véron.

A former soldier who took part in the D-Day landings and the liberation of Brussels before becoming a priest after World War II has this week received France’s highest military award. The Revd Canon Robert William Marsden was awarded Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur during a ceremony this week.
