A recent uprising of rebel activity in the war-torn Democratic Republic of the Congo has caused Bishop Henri Isingoma and 150 delegates of the Province de L'Eglise Anglicane du Congo to be stranded in Boga following their September 30-October 5 diocesan synod.

Bishop Masimando Katanda and his wife Naomi, from the Anglican Diocese of Kindu in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) visited Victoria in early December as guests of CMS. They talked to Beryl Rule about the work the Church is doing there to repair the ravages of the 1998-2003 civil war.

Chers freres et sSurs dans la vigne du Seigneur, Au moment ou l'annee 2005 touche a sa fin, il est grand temps de passer en revue ce qui etait notre vie sur les plans spirituel, moral, professionnel et ministeriel. A chacun de faire son bilan. C'est un temps de remercier Dieu pour toutes les b?n?dictions dont il nous a comblees et de corriger ce qui n'a pas bien marche. Ceci nous permettra d'entrer dans l'annee 2006 avec un nouvel engagement, une nouvelle determination, un bon courage, une ardente perseverance et surtout avec un don de sois pour mieux servir les autres dans ce monde en mutation. Je ne saurais laisser passer ce moment sans vous remercier pour le bon temps que nous avons passe ensemble et specialement de votre franche collaboration durant l'annee qui s'acheve. Je profite de cette occasion pour vous presenter mes meilleurs voeux de bonheur, de prosperite, de longevite, de plaine sante et surtout de reussite dans toutes les bonnes actions que vous aurez a entreprendre a l'honneur de Dieu en servant les autres.Que Dieu vous comble, vous et toute votre famille ainsi que tous ceux qui vous sont chers, de ses benedictions divines pour l'annee 2006.  (Ps. 37 :4-5).

We, the Bishops of the Anglican Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, (DRCongo) gathered in Kinshasa, its capital city, on behalf of the clergy and laity from the DRCongo, take this opportunity to officially express our unhappiness regarding the issues which have recently arisen pertaining to the issues of homosexuality and the blessing of same-sex relationships which we believe are contrary to Holy Scripture, and to moral law in the Third World.
