A year after the Episcopal Church of Cuba voted unanimously to return to The [American] Episcopal Church (TEC) following the normalization of relations between Cuba and the United States, it is still unclear how this will affect the relationship between the Cuban and Canadian Anglican churches, said Archbishop Fred Hiltz, primate of the Anglican Church of Canada.

Churches in South America have been growing at a phenomenal rate, but, according to the Bishop of Peru, the Rt Revd Bill Godfrey, and his team of lay workers, there has been a gap. “If you ask the average person in Peru if they are a Christian, the majority will say they are, but how that makes a difference in their day to day lives is much more limited,” says lay worker Paul Tester.

Successful and emerging discipleship work with and by children and young people within the Anglican Communion will be recognised with two new awards. The new Youth and Children Ministry Award will be presented for the first time at this year’s Anglican Consultative Council meeting in Lusaka, Zambia, in April.

Three West African bishops have briefed members of the Church of England’s General Synod this week on the Ebola crisis and the role played by the church in tackling it. The Bishops of Bo, Freetown, and Guinea were joined by representatives from the Anglican mission agency United Society and the Anglican Alliance.
