Reformation and unity in ACC's ecumenical resolutions

A call for Anglicans to commemorate next year’s 500th anniversary of the Reformation and the commendation of a number of new inter-denominational agreements and reports were amongst a raft of ecumenical resolutions adopted by the Anglican Consultative Council when they met in Lusaka, Zambia, earlier this month.

Central Africa applied "embassy" protocol for ACC's visiting female priests

When the ACC met for its 16th plenary meeting (ACC-16) in Zambia this month, female priests and bishops who were part of the ACC were able to celebrate the Eucharist within the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka, even though the province of Central Africa does not ordain women.

Anglican Consultative Council pass 45 resolutions by assent

The Anglican Consultative Council meeting in the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka, Zambia, last week has approved 45 resolutions on issues relating from intentional discipleship to the continuing detention of Pakistani Christian Asia Bibi; and from gender-based violence to the environment.

Men and boys have role in fight for gender justice

The fight for “just and equal gender relationships” should not be left to women and girls; but must “fully involve” men and boys, the Anglican Consultative Council has said. It urged Anglican provinces to continue to empower “girls and boys, women and men, to live and work in relationships that reflect Christian values of love, dignity and justice.”

The Anglican Consultative Council has called on “every province, diocese and parish” in the Anglican Communion to “adopt a clear focus on intentional discipleship” as part of a “season of intentional discipleship” to run for the next nine-or-so years.

Anglicans call for release of Asia Bibi

The Anglican Consultative Council has called for the case of Asia Bibi, the Pakistani Roman Catholic woman who was convicted of blasphemy, to be re-investigated and for her to be “honourably acquitted.” Asia Bibi has been on death row since November 2010 after a row which stemmed from her drinking water from a cup used by her Islamic co-workers.

Anglican Communion sends birthday greetings to Queen Elizabeth II

The Supreme Governor of the Church of England, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, celebrates her 90th birthday today; and members of the Anglican Consultative Council took time out of their ACC-16 meeting in Lusaka, Zambia, to send her birthday greetings.
