What a great privilege it is for the Twelfth Council Meeting of the ACC to be meeting here in Hong Kong, the youngest of all Provinces in the Anglican Communion and yet a Province that is rich in history.

I recognize the Archbishop of Canterbury's concern for the unity of the Communion. Indeed I share it, along with all other bishops. I think he sincerely believes his remarks today will further our unity. My expectation is that they will do the opposite.

ACC-12, meeting in Hong Kong was launched yesterday with worship, feasting, and celebration in true Hong Kong style, while not ignoring careful explanation of meeting procedures to be followed over the next ten days.
