New Secretary General commissioned

A new chapter of history in the Anglican Communion began today as the Revd Canon Kenneth Kearon was officially commissioned as Secretary General in a service in St Andrew's House Chapel in London. The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd Rowan Williams, presided at the liturgy and preached the homily.

The Archbishop of Cape, the Most Revd Njongonkulu Ndungane, and the Rt Revd David Beetge, Bishop of The Highveld and provincial dean, met today [Wednesday 12 January] with South African Deputy President, Jacob Zuma, to brief him on a proposed US$10 million dollar award for a new HIV and AIDS educational programme to be facilitated by the Church of the Province of Southern Africa (CPSA)

Australian Anglican appointed as Lambeth Conference 2008 manager

Sue Parks is to become the Lambeth Conference 2008 manager. Currently Director of SPCK Worldwide (the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge), she is to work with the Lambeth Design Group and have overall responsibility for the conference's planning and organisation. The Design Group is chaired by the Most Revd Sir Ellison Pogo, the Archbishop of Melanesia.
