The Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle has elected the next Bishop of Newcastle at the end of its first day of business.

During the Archbishop's ministry and under his leadership, the Anglican Schools Commission (ASC) was formed in 1985 and six new low-fee co-educational schools were established in the Perth and Bunbury Dioceses. Today these schools accommodate 7000 students from Kindergarten -12.
