Tribute from the African Anglican Primates in memory of the late Pope Francis
In honor of the beloved Pope Francis, we, the African Anglican Primates, come together to commemorate his extraordinary life and profound impact on the global Christian community and beyond. His passing marks a significant moment of reflection, not only for the Roman Catholic Church but for all who seek to embody the teachings of Christ in our daily lives.
Pope Francis exemplified the essence of Christian leadership through his unwavering commitment to compassion, inclusivity, and social justice. His gentle spirit and pastoral approach resonated deeply, reminding us of the call to serve the
marginalized and voiceless in our societies. He dedicated his life to fostering peace and reconciliation, urging us to create a world where love triumphs over division and understanding prevails over conflict.
His remarkable ability to engage with people of all backgrounds, particularly in Africa, underscored his belief in the power of dialogue and interfaith cooperation. Pope Francis often emphasized the importance of caring for our shared home, the Earth, and inspired countless individuals to advocate for environmental stewardship.
As Anglican Primates, we recognize and celebrate the significant strides he made toward building bridges between our traditions, encouraging unity in our shared mission to proclaim the Gospel and serve humanity. His vision for a Church that embraces diversity and reaches out in love and service shall continue to guide our efforts in promoting harmony among different faith communities.
We are profoundly grateful for the legacy of Pope Francis—a legacy characterized by humility, love, and a relentless pursuit of justice. In his memory, we pledge to uphold these values in our own lives and ministries, working tirelessly to bring hope and healing to our nations.
In this time of mourning, we extend our deepest sympathies to the global Catholic community, the leaders of the Church, and all those who grieve. May God grant us the grace to honor the memory of Pope Francis by embodying his teachings and carrying forward his mission of love and peace.
Rest in peace, dear Pope Francis. Your compassionate spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
With love and remembrance.
