The Anglican Consultative Council and the Pentecostal World Fellowship meet for dialogue

Posted on: June 19, 2024 12:54 PM

The International Pentecostal–Anglican Commission (IPAC) held its third annual meeting at Shikwaru Lodge, near Mokopane, South Africa, from June 8 to 14, 2024. The event was part of the ongoing dialogue between the Anglican Consultative Council and the Pentecostal World Fellowship (PWF).

Participants shared stories and examples of relationships between Anglicans and Pentecostals from different parts of the globe. The meeting, hosted by the PWF, included morning and evening prayer sessions led alternately by members from both teams.

The focus of the conference was the development of a common statement on holiness, sacramentality, and renewal in both traditions. Key topics were theological education, ministerial formation, discipleship, and holiness. The papers presented at the conference will contribute to the final dialogue report due in 2026.

Working groups were established during the meeting to prepare for the next conference. The Commission expressed gratitude to the staff of Shikwaru Lodge for their hospitality throughout the week. Members also attended a service at Celebration Church in Mokopane on Sunday morning and visited the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg.

The next IPAC meeting is scheduled for June 2025 and will be hosted by the Anglican Communion Office.
