A territorial dispute between rival biker gangs appears to have been behind a fatal shooting outside an Anglican Church in Mississauga, Ontario. Paramedics and heavily armed police were deployed to the scene after reports of gunfire at 11.20 am EDT (3.30 pm GMT) yesterday (Monday). A 32-year-old man was taken hospital where he died from his injuries. “Today very close to our home someone lost his life due to tragic and senseless gun violence”, the St John the Baptist Anglican Church - known as Dixie - said on its Facebook page. “We pray for the victim, and also for his family as they come to terms with his demise.”
The regional newspaper, The Star, said that the unnamed victim was a full patch member of the Hells Angels biker gang; and suggested that the shooting followed changes in personnel in different Hells Angels regional groups.
“We pray for the shooter, that this individual will find peace, reconciliation, and healing towards whatever pain yielded this tragic action, and to find the conscience to come forward and do the right thing”, the Church‘s Facebook post said.
“We pray for the police who put themselves into the line of duty everyday in an attempt to keep our streets safer while battling the increase of violence and guns on our streets. May the outcome of this crime come to swift resolution and restore our city to safety and peace.”
