The Moderator of the united Church of South India (CSI), Bishop Thomas K Oommen, is recovering at home after treatment for a stroke. Bishop Thomas was forced to miss last week’s regional Primates’ Meeting in Amman, Jordan, as he received treatment at the Christian Medical College Hospital, Vellore, Tamil Nadu. The General Secretary of the CSI, Dr Daniel Sadananda, has requested prayers as Bishop Thomas “journeys through the healing process”.
“He has recovered well and is on his way to fuller strength”, Dr Sadananda said. “He has been discharged from the Hospital [and] he has undergone extensive check-ups. . . Currently he is recuperating.”
He asked that people “continue to pray for the Moderator . . . so that he may be able to discharge his responsibilities with renewed strength. Please pray for God’s accompaniment and grace, as he journeys through healing process.”
Bishop Thomas, who is aged 65, continues to serve as Bishop of Madhya Kerala. He was elected Moderator of the CSI in 2017.
