The Diocese of Swaziland has held on to two national environmental awards. The diocese itself retained its title as the best Environmentally Active Faith Based Organisation in the Kingdom; while young Green Anglican Mncedisi Masuku retained the title of Young Eco-Hero. Both recipients were awarded the awards when they were first granted in 2016; and retained them when this year’s Temvelo Awards were presented in Swaziland’s Royal Convention Centree last night (Monday).

Masuku’s award was collected on his behalf by Ndumiso Malindzisa as he was in Cape Town for a conference.

The Environmentally Active Faith Based Organisation award recognises a faith based organisation that has best contributed towards protecting or improving the environment through activities that improve the quality of the environment and yield sustainable benefits for local communities. The Young Eco Hero title goes to a young person who is passionate and has understanding of environmental issues and the ability to inspire students or young people in matters of environmental management.

The Diocesan Environmental Chaplain, the Revd Z Sigudla, said: “Congratulation to the Diocese of Swaziland and its own Mncedisi for shinning. We are Green Anglicans and we care for creation.”
