Juba Radio this morning reported that The Rt Revd Daniel Deng Abeil, Bishop of the Diocese of Yirol died in a hospital in Rumbek last night. He had been fighting cancer.
The bishop's death was confirmed by the Diocese of Salisbury's Sudan Link office. Spokesperson Kate Brankin said she had spoken to the Diocese of Awerial's Bishop David Akau who told her he would be travelling to Yirol to be with the people of the diocese.
Via Twitter she appealed to supporters to "pray for Bishop David as he travels and spends time with congregations there".
