The Anglican Diocese of The Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands has a new chancellor. Justice Bernard Turner's appointment took effect from January 1, 2013.

Turner replaced Rubie Nottage, who retired on December 31, 2012 after serving 22 years as vice-chancellor before being appointed chancellor in 2002.

As chancellor, Turner's role is to advise the bishop on ecclesiastical law and on all legal or disciplinary matters affecting the diocese and on the interpretation of the canons, constitution and regulations.

Turner has been a member of Holy Cross Anglican Church since his youth, where he was a part of the Sunday School, Boys Scouts, Youth Group, Altar Servers, and the Young Adults. He continues to be actively involved in the church and is presently the treasurer of the Holy Cross Branch of the Anglican Church Men (ACM). He is a former Vestry member.

Turner has served as registrar of the diocese, a post he relinquished when he became chancellor. He is also presently the registrar for the Province of the West Indies. He represented the Province at the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) from 1996-2002. He also served as an ACC delegate to the Lambeth Conference of Bishops in Canterbury, England in 1998.
