From the Diocese of Europe

Dr Amanda Haste from RSCM France tells us members are working to fulfil the aim of the Royal School of Church Music in promoting music in worship. Following highly successful 'Singing Days' at St George's, Paris and John the Baptist in St Raphaël we are now planning a residential weekend which is open to all chaplaincies in the Diocese. The details below may help you plan your Summer.

The Royal School of Church Music, which aims to encourage and inspire good use of music, above all in Christian worship, is holding a residential Weekend (21-23 June 2013) on the theme ‘Come and Praise the Lord’.The weekend, at Renouveau Holiday Village in a pretty area of the Var, will cover different ways of singing the psalms, hymns ancient and modern, worship songs, Taizé and "short songs" (Rizza style) in a programme designed to appeal to all styles of worship currently used in the Diocese of Europe. Practical sessions including services, plus an informal concert, may include using instrumental music in worship, depending on demand.

Renouveau is easily accessible by air (Nice, Toulon), road or rail and has excellent facilities including swimming pool; non-participating family and friends are welcome (golf course 15 mins, beach 30 mins). RSCM France need to know likely numbers so they can finalise course programme and prices, so if you are interested please contact Secretary Shirley Rowson as soon as possible on[email protected]
