(CEN) The Anglican Church in Japan has voted to ordain women to the priesthood. The previous vote on the issue took place in 1996 when the Nippon Sei Ko Kai, the Holy Catholic Church in Japan, narrowly rejected the call for women to the priesthood. But a vote recently achieved the two-thirds majority necessary. There are now more than 50 per cent of Anglican Provinces which allow women's ordination.
