The Bishop of Bradford, the Rt Revd David Smith, joined with Monseignor Billy Steele of the Roman Catholic Church, the Revd Geoff Reid, Chair of Christians Together in Bradford and Canon Geoff Smith from Bradford Cathedral to visit the Hanafia Mosque in Carlisle Road for Friday Prayers, on February 20.
The Bishop addressed the gathering to express the common deep desire of local Christians leaders for a peaceful solution to the crisis in Iraq.
He noted in his remarks that Iraq has one of the largest Christian communities in the Middle East and the efforts that Christian Churches have been making to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid through the Iraqi Red Crescent and the Middle East Council of Churches.
The Bishop invited representatives of the Muslim community to be present during the morning service in Bradford Cathedral when prayers will again be offered for peace for the people of Iraq.
