The Anglican Church of Canada's chief governing body will be asked to affirm that the blessing of same-sex unions is within the authority of a diocesan synod and that any Canadian Anglican diocese, if the bishop agrees, has the authority to perform such blessings.

A guide from the National Council of Churches USA (NCC) to a new film about the last days of Jesus Christ, has been endorsed by the Episcopal Church's ecumenical and interfaith officer as a helpful guide to congregations viewing the controversial film. Called “The Passion of the Christ” and directed by Mel Gibson, the film is to open at cinemas on Ash Wednesday (25 February).

Archbishop Michael Peers' 18-year primacy of the Anglican Church of Canada officially ended with his retirement last weekend. As of Sunday 1 February, the church is under an acting primate until Archbishop Peers' successor is elected at General Synod on May 31. Candidates for this election will be nominated by members of the House of Bishops when it meets in Regina in April.
