Yesterday evening I and other religious leaders met with President Mbeki on the issue of Zimbabwe. This meeting followed our initial meeting with the President a few weeks ago where we reported back on our July fact-finding visit to Zimbabwe and discussed what we, as the religious community could do to help the situation

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) will escort trucks carrying four and a half thousand good quality blankets provided by the Anglican Church, as well as 37 tons of maize, beans and oil donated by other churches, to Zimbabweans displaced by Operation Murambatsvina ('Drive Out Trash') today Monday 1st August.

Meeting in Kwazulu Natal, the Synod of the Church of the Province of Southern Africa is the highest legislative body of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa. It meets once every three years. Among the guests was the Revd Canon Kenneth Kearon, the Secretary General of the Anglican Communion based in London.
