The Diocese of Krishna Godavari celebrated its Mission Festival at Vijayawada in May 2000. About 5000 people gathered from all parts of the diocese, rural as well as urban, and participated in a celebration of witness.

The sessions during festival focussed on the theme "Moving towards perfection." The former Moderator of the Church of South India, he Rt Revd P Victor Premasagar, delivered the inaugural address and led the Bible studies. The speaker for the keynote address was the Church's General Secretary, the Revd G Dyvasirvadam. Other bishops and clergy participated in the festival, including the Rt Revd T B D Prakasha Rao, Bishop of Krishna Godavari. There were special gatherings for youth and women.

The festival aimed to ensure that all the participants were motivated and encouraged to take part in God's Mission, and that they were equipped to meet the challenges of the modern world and to serve as "agents of liberation and healing communities" at their local congregational level.

The festival included a unique time of prayer where all those present pledged to commit themselves to prayer and mission both within the Diocese of Krishna Godavari and in other parts of India.
