The Anglican Missions Office has launched an emergency appeal in support of the victims of what was reportedly the worst tropical storm to hit the South Pacific in the month of May. Tropical cyclone Donna unleashed winds of up to 300kmh on Northern Vanuatu over the weekend.

Enthronement of new Archbishop of Melanesia

More than 4,000 people packed into St Barnabas’ Provincial Cathedral in Honiara, on Guadalcanal, one of the Solomon Islands last month, for the enthronement of the Most Revd George Takeli as the sixth Archbishop of Melanesia.

George Takeli is new Archbishop of Melanesia

The Anglican Church of Melanesia has this morning announced that its new Archbishop and Primate will be the Rt Revd George Takeli, the current Bishop of Temotu. Bishop Takeli will be enthroned on the 17 April at the Saint Barnabas Provincial Cathedral and will also become Bishop of the Diocese of Central Melanesia.
