When the delegates to the Anglican Consultative Council meeting held in Hong Kong, at the end of September, learned that the delegate from the Province of the Congo was slain on his way to the meeting, it was decided unanimously to dedicate the offering of the opening service to help his family.

The Revd Basimaki Byabasaija, 58, of the diocese of Boga in the Congo was killed by tribesmen as he was leaving the country. He was assistant diocesan secretary and coordinator of the HIV/AIDS network.

The offering amounted to $4,384.25 and is being sent to the Archbishop of the Province of the Congo, reported the Revd Canon John L. Peterson, Secretary General of the Anglican Communion Office
